Here’s a full breakdown of all the theme options included with Top Dog. You can access these via your Customize page to change the appearance and functionality of your blog.

Appearance Options

These options let you change some basic settings on your blog. These also affect how your blog looks on mobile apps, the Dashboard and search results. You can also edit these from your main blog settings page – check out Tumblr’s help section for more details.

Title – this is where you set the Title of your blog, which is displayed in the header and in the title of the page in your browser.

Description – this is for some basic information about your blog. It is displayed in the your Profile section.

Header image – this is the image for your main header image that appears all across Tumblr. On your theme, it’s the background of the whole page.

Avatar – this is the image for your avatar, which appears all across Tumblr. On your theme, it’s displayed in your Profile section.

Avatar Shape – this let’s you choose either a square or circle avatar shape.

Title font – choose a font for your title, which appears all across Tumblr. You can also choose to use the regular or bold version of the font.

Background color – set the main background color for your blog.

Title color – set the color for your blog title.

Accent color – set the accent color your blog, this controls links and buttons too.

Show header image – choose whether to show your header image.

Show avatar – choose whether to show your avatar.

Show title – choose whether to show your blog title.

Show description – choose whether to show your blog description.

Image Options

Logo – you can upload a Logo image, which will replace the Title in the header.

Avatar – you can upload a custom Avatar image, which over-rides your default avatar.

Color Options

Header Overlay – this sets the header/background image overlay color, if you choose to use it.

Header Link – this sets the text color for any links in the profile section.

Header Link Hover – this sets the hover text color for any links in the profile section.

Header Title – this sets the text color for the blog title in the profile section.

Header Subtitle – this sets the text color for the subtitle in the profile section.

Header Description – this sets the text color for the descriptions in the profile section.

Social Background – this sets the background color for the social icons in the profile section.

Social Icon – this sets the icon color for the social icons in the profile section.

Social Hover Background – this sets the hover background color for the social icons in the profile section.

Social Hover Icon – this sets the hover icon color for the social icons in the profile section.

Menu Background – this sets the background color for the dropdown menu.

Menu Text – this sets the text color for the dropdown menu.

Menu Hover Background – this sets the background color for a menu item when it is hovered.

Menu Hover Text – this sets the text color for a menu item when it is hovered.

Post Background – this sets the background color for the Posts on your blog.

Post Borders – this sets the color for borders on your blog – the markers between posts, block quotes, and chat posts.

Post Titles – this sets the text color for the the titles and quotes in your posts.

Text – this sets the main text color for your posts.

Link – this sets the color for links in your posts and menu/load more buttons.

Link Hover – this sets the hover color for links in your posts.

Dropdown Options

Pagination – choose which pagination method to use: load more adds a simple button you hit to load more posts, infinite scroll loads posts as you scroll, and standard adds basic previous/next page buttons.

Photo Links– the three Link options allow you to choose what happens when you click on a photo:

  • Photo Link Permalink – choose what happens when you click the image on the permalink of a regular photo post
  • Panorama Link Permalink – choose what happens when you click the image on the permalink of a Panorama photo
  • Photoset Link Permalink – choose what happens when you click an image on the permalink of a Photoset grid

And the available options are:

  • Post – links to the permalink URL of the post
  • Image – links to the permalink URL of the image
  • Lightbox – opens the image in a lightbox view
  • None – just shows the photo, no link

Toggle Options

Photoset Cover – using this option shows the first image from a Photoset post on the home page, and then shows the full grid of images when you click through. Perfect for portfolios where you want to show more images on the permalink post.

Header Overlay – adds a semi-transparent overlay color over your header/profile image, to help with readability.

Show Archive Link – shows a link to your archive in the main menu.

White Icons – changes the icons at the bottom of posts to white, in case you are using a dark background color.

Show Group Author – if you are running a Group blog, show the group author details at the bottom of individual post/permalink pages.

Sharer – choose whether to show the ‘share’ function at the bottom of posts.

Sharer Twitter – choose whether to include Twitter sharing in the sharer popup.

Sharer Facebook – choose whether to include Facebook sharing in the sharer popup.

Sharer Google – choose whether to include Google+ sharing in the sharer popup.

Sharer Pinterest – choose whether to include Pinterest sharing in the sharer popup.

Text Options

Header Overlay Opacity – allows you to change the transparency of the header overlay – enter a decimal e.g. 0.5 is 50%, 0.8 is 80%

Menu Text – sets the text next to the menu icon.

Menu Profile – sets the text for the Profile menu link.

Menu Instagram – sets the text for the Instagram menu link.

Menu Tweets – sets the text for the Tweets menu link.

Menu Audio – sets the text for the Audio menu link.

Menu Blog – sets the text for the Blog menu link.

Menu Back – sets the text for the back menu link on permalink pages.

Title Font Size – control the font size used in your blog title.

Title Letter Spacing – control the spacing between characters in your blog title.

Subtitle – sets the text for the subtitle, under the main blog title. Leave blank to remove.

Avatar Width – lets you set a width in pixels for the avatar image.

Logo Width – lets you set a width in pixels for the logo image.

Photoset Spacing – control the amount of space between photos in a Photoset grid post.

Instagram Token – enter your Instagram token to set up the Instagram feed – get your token here.

Tweets Follow Me – sets the text for the Tweets follow me button.

Audio Embed – add an embed code here to show the Audio section of the profile.

Audio Text – add a description to appear under your audio embed.

Load More – sets the text inside the ‘load more’ button.

Load More Loading – sets the text inside the ‘load more’ button while posts are loading.

Load More End – sets the text inside the ‘load more’ button when there are no more posts to load.

Footer Text – sets the text in the footer of the page, next to the copyright statement.

Google Analaytics Code – enter your Profile ID for Google Analytics tracking – see full details here.

Disqus Shortname – simply add your Disqus Shortname here to enable Disqus comments on your blog.

Font Embed and Family – let’s you set up custom fonts, see full details here.

URL icons – let’s you link to your other websites/social media, see full details here.
