Here’s a full breakdown of all the theme options included with Typist. You can access these via your Customize page to change the appearance and functionality of your blog.

Appearance Options

These options let you change some basic settings on your blog. These also affect how your blog looks on mobile apps, the Dashboard and search results. You can also edit these from your main blog settings page – check out Tumblr’s help section for more details.

Title – this is where you set the Title of your blog, which is displayed in the header and in the title of the page in your browser.

Description – this is the text used for the Intro on your home page.

Header image – this is the image for your main header image that appears all across Tumblr. On your theme, it’s the background of the page.

Avatar – this is the image for your avatar, which appears all across Tumblr. On your theme, this displays alongside your blog title in the header.

Avatar Shape – this let’s you choose either a square or circle avatar shape.

Title font – choose a font for your title, which appears all across Tumblr. The also controls your intro, quotes and link posts. You can also choose to use the regular or bold version of the font.

Background color – set the main background color for your blog.

Title color – set the main color for titles on your blog.

Accent color – set the accent color your blog, this controls links and buttons too.

Show header image – choose whether to show your header image.

Show avatar – choose whether to show your avatar.

Show title – choose whether to show your blog title.

Show description – choose whether to show your blog description/intro.

Image Options

Logo – you can upload a Logo image, which will replace the blog title and avatar in the header.

Color Options

Header Overlay – this sets a color to overlay the header image, to improve readability of your header and intro.

Blog Title – this sets the color of your blog title in the header.

Header Text – this sets the color of your intro text in the header, and your menu link.

Menu Background – this sets the background color for your slide-out menu.

Menu Text – this sets the color of the text and links in your menu.

Post Background – this sets the background color for the posts on your blog.

Borders – this sets the border color used in the theme.

Post Titles – this sets the text color for the the titles and quotes in your posts.

Text – this sets the main text color for your blog and posts.

Link – this sets the color for links in your posts and menu/load more buttons.

Link Hover – this sets the hover color for links in your posts.

Dropdown Options

Pagination – choose which pagination method to use: load more adds a simple button you hit to load more posts, infinite scroll loads posts as you scroll, and standard adds basic previous/next page buttons.

Photo Links– the six Link options allow you to choose what happens when you click on a photo:

  • Photo Link – choose what happens when you click the image in a regular photo post
  • Photo Link Permalink – same as above, but for the permalink of that post
  • Panorama Link – choose what happens when you click the image in a Panorama photo post
  • Panorama Link Permalink – same as above, but for the permalink
  • Photoset Link – choose what happens when you click an image in a photo set grid post
  • Photoset Link Permalink – same as above, but for the permalink

And the available options are:

  • Post – links to the permalink URL of the post
  • Image – links to the permalink URL of the image
  • Lightbox – opens the image in a lightbox view
  • None – just shows the photo, no link

Toggle Options

Photoset Cover – using this option shows the first image from a Photoset post on the home page, and then shows the full grid of images when you click through. Perfect for portfolios where you want to show more images on the permalink post.

Sticky Posts – activate the ‘sticky posts’ feature, which will display posts with a certain tag at the top of your home page feed.

Typed Intro – choose whether to used the ‘typed’ intro animation. If enabled the intro will be animated on the first visit to the home page, then disabled for 10 minutes so it doesn’t get annoying when you go back to the home page. If disabled the intro text just shows immediately.

Show Archive Link – shows a link to your archive in the main menu.

Show Search – shows the search feature in the menu.

White Icons – changes the icons at the bottom of posts to white, in case you are using a dark background color.

Show Group Author – if you’re using a group blog, this shows the avatar and name of who created the post on permalink pages.

Sharer – choose whether to show the ‘share’ function at the bottom of posts.

Sharer Twitter – choose whether to include Twitter sharing in the sharer popup.

Sharer Facebook – choose whether to include Facebook sharing in the sharer popup.

Sharer Google – choose whether to include Google+ sharing in the sharer popup.

Sharer Pinterest – choose whether to include Pinterest sharing in the sharer popup.

Show Timestamp – choose whether to show the timestamp on posts.

Text Options

Header Overlay Opacity – control the opacity of the header overlay color – use decimal values here, for example 0.5 is 50%.

Title Font Size – control the font size used in your blog title.

Title Letter Spacing – control the spacing between characters in your blog title and intro text.

Intro Font Size – control the font size used in your intro text.

Photoset Spacing – control the amount of space between photos in a Photoset grid post.

Menu Text – change the text used for the menu button in the header.

Menu Subtitle Main – change the text used for the main menu label.

Menu Subtitle Tags – change the text used for the tags menu label.

Menu Subtitle Search – change the text used for the search label.

Menu Subtitle Social – change the text used for the social icons label.

Menu Tags – create a list of tags to show in your menu. Add the tag names separated by a comma. For example design,typography,posters. Only use spaces when there is a space in the tag, not between each tag. For example typography, graphic design, posters will NOT work, but typography,graphic design,posters WILL work.

Load More – sets the text inside the ‘load more’ button.

Load More Loading – sets the text inside the ‘load more’ button while posts are loading.

Load More End – sets the text inside the ‘load more’ button when there are no more posts to load.

Footer Text – sets the text in the footer of the page, next to the copyright statement.

Instagram Token – enter your Instagram token to set up the Instagram feed – get your token here.

Instagram Order – choose which order the Instagram feed goes within your posts.

Instagram Follow Me – the text used for the ‘follow me’ button at the bottom of your Instagram feed.

Google Analaytics Code – enter your Profile ID for Google Analytics tracking – see full details here.

Disqus Shortname – simply add your Disqus Shortname here to enable Disqus comments on your blog.

Sticky Tag – this is the tag for the posts that will be shown if you select the ‘sticky posts’ option.

Font Embed and Family – let’s you set up custom fonts, see full details here.

URL icons – let’s you link to your other websites/social media, see full details here.
